Little Crab Educational Press is a Canadian, sister-owned and women-operated, independent publisher and distributor dedicated to the development of bilingual edutainment products in Simplified Chinese and English which touch on the Seven Language Skills. Our core team is made up of certified language teachers and a designer.
We make it easier for Mandarin teachers to both access high-quality, relevant and affordable resources for their classrooms and support continued learning in the homes of their students. We also strive to demystify Mandarin for native English speakers and to empower native Mandarin-speaking expats to pass on their heritage language to their kids.
We create high-quality language learning products that are flexible in their use, including: Children’s books, learning trackers, activity books, guided journals, handwriting practice books, vocabulary builder books with curated word lists, composition and translation notebooks, and worksheets. And more to come in the future.
I am responsible for the day-to-day operations of Little Crab Educational Press. On a given day I could be:
Fluent•ish, the Merch has grown out of Fluent•ish, the Podcast, which grew out of Little Crab Educational Press. We are passionate about languages because learning them fosters inclusivity, promotes literacy, and teaches perseverance. Inspired by the multitude of languages we are surrounded by here on Canada's beautiful west coast, we developed and launched Fluent•ish, the Podcast in early 2025 to expand beyond our exclusive focus on Mandarin and English. Fluent•ish, the Merch followed shortly after.
I handle everything to do with Fluent•ish, the Merch from conceptualization to design and execution to making our goods available for purchase and promotion.
Little Crab Educational Press brings you Fluent•ish, the Podcast - a fun, no-snobbery space for language learners (hey there bilinguals, multilinguals, and aspiring polyglots!), teachers, and parents raising kids in more than one language. Each episode tackles real language-learning struggles (“the Barrier”), with expert insights and actionable solutions (“the Blueprint”) from Rebecca.
We address common questions like: "What if I pick the ‘wrong’ language?", "What if I’m just not good at this?", "Which accent is ‘right’?", and so much more.
Then we wrap up with wins and woes in language learning and culture (Oh La La or 不不不!), leaving you with a Joy Builder boost to fuel your journey.
Tune in and start learning smarter!
I co-write and co-host this podcast with my sister, Rebecca. All the visuals associated with it are created by me (Rebecca edits the episodes themselves), I draft the Show Notes for Rebecca to edit, and we both handle marketing and promotion of the podcast.
